Patient-Focused MTM Marketing

Pharmacists have indicated that they struggle with marketing MTM directly to patients.  When cold calling the patients on your CMR list, many calls have been met with confusion and resistance.  The patients seem confused by what the pharmacist is asking of them when they call to schedule a face-to-face encounter.

In an effort to streamline and ease some these marketing issues, we have come up with several different marketing strategies.  One of which is to provider patient marketing flyers in order to generate more patient-requested MTM appointments.  Of course, the staff should also be properly trained to handle the questions that will come from patients who receive these marketing flyers.  This is just another example of how technicians can answer patient questions regarding MTM and even help schedule CMR appointments.

Some of our marketing materials are aimed at patients, while others are more pointedly aimed at doctors clinics, caregivers, etc.  We share this Patient Marketing PDF with other pharmacists, so that it may be easily downloaded and used in marketing efforts.

A few ways that this marketing flyer may be used:

  • As an advertisement in a local paper
  • As a bag-stuffer in the pharmacy
  • To hand out at a local health fair
  • To provide to patients at an immunization clinic
  • To distribute in a doctor clinic to help explain pharmacist-led MTM
  • Mailed directly to patients on the pharmacy’s CMR list 

Small community pharmacies may not have the time or the resources to design marketing flyers every time they add a new clinical service, so here at BT Pharmacy Consulting, LLC we aim to take care of these small steps for our community so that our pharmacists can focus of more important patient care activities.
